30th World Day of the Sick in the Licheń hospice

This year's 30th World Day of the Sick, celebrated in the Lichen hospice, was an opportunity to pay attention to sick people who, at the end of their earthly path, want to enjoy every moment they have left.

Only Mary was conceived without sin. But God's plan made the transition, the Passover. The Immaculate Conception of Mary already foreshadowed that Christ would overcome death and Satan. And we still have an everlasting Passover ahead of us. Today we celebrate the World Day of the Sick in order to experience the presence of Jesus Christ - His strength and mercy. Mary covers us with her protection. The sanctuary is always where the Mother of God is. This is what it is like in Licheń, where there is a hospice in the local sanctuary. Many come here to seek help, as from a mother.

In the hospice chapel, a solemn Eucharist was celebrated at noon, presided over by Fr. Bogusław Binda, MIC, superior of the Lichen community of Marian priests and brothers. Fr. Krzysztof Jagoda, MIC, chaplain of the hospice for them. st. Stanisław Papczyński.

In a word to patients and hospice staff, Fr. Binda emphasized that in the history of salvation every person is invited to follow the path of Mary. - Only Mary was conceived without sin. Speaking about the physical dimension of the holiday, the superior priest emphasized that people often need the help of another person, presence, a good word, kindness of their confrere. This is what happens in the Licheń hospice, whose staff tries to help patients spend their time in peace, quiet and a friendly atmosphere. - This service is important, it is being for someone, for another person. This is the wealth that we experience in a tangible way here in the hospice - he said.

 - Mary covers us with her protection. The sanctuary is always where the Mother of God is. This is what it is like in Licheń, where there is a hospice in the local sanctuary. Many come here to seek help, as from a mother, he added.
 
The priest wished the participants of common prayer that the experience of the meeting during the Eucharist would be a strength, and that the celebration would help in their further earthly pilgrimage, because "The Eucharist is food on the way to eternity".
After the Holy Mass was over, the priests went to the patients with the Blessed Sacrament, who could not come to the chapel due to their health condition.

Hospice for them. st. Stanisław Papczyński in Licheń has existed since 2009. People at the end of their earthly life go to the facility. Incurable neoplastic diseases constitute the largest number of diseases in patients. Patient care is completely free of charge.

In Lichen, on February 11, three Holy Masses were celebrated, during which the sick and suffering were especially recommended: at 10.00 in the parish church of St. Dorothy, at 12.00 in the Basilica of Blessed Virgin Mary of Licheń and also at 12.00 at the hospice. st. Stanisław Papczyński.

The World Day of the Sick is celebrated each year on February 11, on the commemoration of Our Lady of Lourdes. This day was established by Pope John Paul II in 1992, on the 75th anniversary of the Fatima apparitions and on the 11th anniversary of the attempt on the life of the Polish Pope. It is a special occasion for prayer, reflection and reflection on sick people, both in body and soul.
