As every year, many pilgrims from all over Poland head towards Jasna Góra. Some of the groups, along the way, decide to visit the House of Our Lady of Licheń. One of them adds even one day's journey!
The Walking Pilgrimage of the Diocese of Bydgoszcz reached the Licheń sanctuary in the morning, on Saturday, July 24. Pilgrims took part in the Holy Mass in the basilica at 12.00.
“About 150 people stay with us and sleep in tents. In addition, we have maintained the possibility of a relay pilgrimage in groups of up to 5 people, who can come to the selected stage on their own and return to their homes in the evening ”- says Hubert Binarsz, the head of the tour service responsible for the media and the secretariat of the pilgrimage. This year, the group from Bydgoszcz will cover about 330 km, and the group from Górka Klasztorna - 370 km.
Fr. Krzysztof Kluska, head of the Pedestrian Pilgrimage of the Diocese of Bydgoszcz to Jasna Góra, admits that there is a longing among pilgrims caused by a pandemic that has been going on for over a year. “They are more focused, disciplined. You can see this focus on the services, they are more open and thirsty for pilgrimages. "
The aim of the group is to meet the Mother. “We are leaving Bydgoszcz, from our Mother, Mary, with a rose in our hand. We also bow to Our Lady in Licheń. In fact, we are not on our way to this Sanctuary at all. Although it costs us one more day, we want to come here, bend our knees, say - thank you, ”adds Fr. Christopher.
Pilgrims will reach Jasna Góra on July 31.
