A solemn Midnight Mass in the Basilica of Our Lady of Licheń

If Jesus finds a place in our hearts and homes, hope, love and peace will come to them. God never comes empty-handed. Tonight raises the question: do I want to accept God?

Holy Midnight Mass in the Basilica of Our Lady of Lichen, December 24, 2021

God never comes to man empty-handed. This celebration is given to us once again to discover how much we are loved by God. The gifts that God brings to us are meant for us to share and change the world

For the first time, the faithful could pray at the new nativity scene in Bethlehem in the nave of the western Lichen basilica, to the left of the altar.
The homily was delivered by Fr. Adam Stankiewicz, MIC, vice-custodian of the Lichen sanctuary:
“As we stare at the manger, God brings us many gifts. God never comes to man empty-handed. This celebration is given to us once again to discover how much we are loved by God. These gifts that God brings us are meant for us to share them and change the world with them ".
Later on, Fr. Stankiewicz pointed to what we receive from the newborn Jesus.
- “The baby Jesus brings hope that we so miss. Especially in today's world. Man today lives in fear and fear. Lives ahead of the uncertainty of tomorrow. And the child born in Bethlehem says, I am with you. Despite your fear, I will not leave you alone.
The priest pointed out that a Christian is a man who is staring at heaven in anticipation of the coming of the Lord. This expectation is related to hope.
Next, Fr. Stankiewicz pointed to the gift of hope, which is a reassurance that everything is possible with God. - “He is the one for whom nothing is impossible. Baby Jesus gives us hope and wants us to bring it to our homes and workplaces ”.
- “When we stare at the manger, we receive another gift from it - love. We are looking for love, we want to be loved by others. When we do not receive it, we walk in sadness. In the little Child, Jesus God reveals His love. This gift is given to us so that we may believe that God has given us His Son, that love has come down from heaven to earth. It is selfless, free, self-forgetting love. He is with us. We have nothing to fear, if we put our trust in Him, ”he emphasized.
- “If Jesus finds a place in our hearts and homes, hope, love and peace will come to them. God never comes empty-handed. Tonight is a question of whether I want to take God seriously. Jesus came and his own did not receive him. He will come, calm the storms of our hearts, fill our hearts with love, and make us witnesses of His peace. How to do it - it is enough to open your heart to Him, following the example of Mary, Joseph, the shepherds and those who believed in Him "- concluded the Vice-Custodian.
