St. Joseph was a man who put his trust in God and therefore could look to the future with confidence and courage. As a young spouse, he certainly had his life plans and desires. However, in the face of unexpected circumstances, when Mary, who was married to him, became pregnant thanks to the Holy Spirit, he was able to give up on them and with deep trust, without any objection, accept what God intended for him in his plan. St. Joseph is a man of action. The Gospels did not record any of his words, but emphasize that in total obedience he did what the Angel commanded him. His example shows that when we entrust our lives to God, God provides us with the means necessary to fulfill His will. Knowing this gives you a sense of security, gives you courage and, consequently, makes us happy. St. Joseph teaches you to seek and accept God's will. It also shows that by deciding to abandon our own plans and desires, and by engaging in the service of God's plan, a person receives much more than what he gave up.
